If you’re looking to solve creative math problems or collaborate with fellow math-lovers, keep reading! This Labor Day weekend, the Bay Area Cowconuts Math Club will host the Third Annual Shengmeng Math Competition. All students are welcome to participate!
COMPETITION INFO:
When: September 6, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m (PST).
Where: Online via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent the day before the competition.
Registration Deadline: August 28, 2020 at 11:59 p.m (PST).
Registration Fee: FREE
There are two divisions:
1) JUNIOR (MOEMS, AMC 8, MathCounts level)
– You must be in 8th grade or below.
2) SENIOR (MathCounts – advanced AMC 10/12 level)
– You must be in 12th grade or below.
The competition is divided into two rounds that everyone will take part in: an Individual Round and a team Guts Round. There will also be Tiebreaker Rounds that only some contestants will take part in; these rounds will be used to break ties that occur in the Individual Round. All problems used are original problems created by the Cowconuts Math Club and other problem-contributors.
For each division, the top 10 students for the Individual Round and the top 2 Guts teams will be announced at the Results Ceremony!

8:30 – 9:00 Join the Zoom meeting using the link sent out the day before the competition
9:00 – 10:00 Individual Round (explanation of rules and actual round)
10:00 – 10:15 Break
10:15 – 11:30 Guts Round (explanation of rules and actual round)
11:30 – 12:00 Tiebreakers
12:00 – 12:15 Results Ceremony
HOW TO REGISTER:
If you would like to compete, please register by completing the registration Google Form (Link) below. Please register as a team of 6 or less with the people you’d like to be on a team with. If you have less than 6 people, we will merge you with other incomplete teams to form a full team of 6. Note that all members of a team must be in the same division. Each team should submit only 1 response to this form.
The deadline to register is August 28, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. After registration closes, you will receive a confirmation email and another email before the test date with your individual ID, team ID and zoom information. Please make sure to provide valid email address during registration. All information regarding the competition will be communicated by email.

Po-Shen Loh’s Livestream for 2020 Cowconuts Third Annual Shengmeng Math Competition
On the day of the competition, September 6, at 3:00 p.m. PST, Professor Po-Shen Loh will host a review session for the 2020 Cowconuts Third Annual Shengmeng Math Competition via a Youtube livestream.
