Halloween Weekend Math Contest

Do you want to challenge your kids in a creative way? A little competition can inspire your kids to fulfill greater achievements. On the afternoon of October 27, ShengMeng Educational Center will host a Halloween Weekend Math Contest, organized by the Bay Area Cowconuts Math Club and sponsored by Dr. Bin Lan. All students are welcome to participate.

This contest challenges students to showcase their talents through solving worthwhile problems, in hopes of encouraging future interest and confidence in mathematics. The contest is divided into three sections: a fast-paced Sprint round, a more intensive but longer Target round, and a Team round for fun. All problems will be created by the Cowconuts Math Club and will be reviewed by Dr. Bin Lan.

 

The top 3 winners of each contest category will be awarded with special Halloween treats; in addition, there will be a post-contest party with food, drinks and fun activities like face-painting provided by the Muse Art Club. All participant are suggested to donate $5 for the event.

2:00 – 2:10 Setup

2:10 – 2:20 Welcome and Introduction to Test

2:20 – 3:15 Sprint Round

3:15 – 3:20 Break

3:20 – 4:05 Target Round

4:05 – 4:15 Break

4:15 – 4:45 Team Round

4:45 – 5:30 Snacks, Face Painting, and Other Activities While Proctors Grade

5:30 – 6:00 Awards

6:00 – 7:00 Food, Fun Activities and Party
